Thank you so much for this! I absolutely love this movie, it’s so camp. The best production value is probably the design of the futuristic cars, seen here. I’d have to go for Frankenstein’s car, because despite the green the spikes make for good killing.
In the remake they took out the only distinguishing/interesting bit – it’s on a prison island, and random civilians aren’t killed. Avoid that, but definitely check out the original.

Yeah the remake was dreadful, absolutely no point to it whatsoever. But no way they would have got away with following the original story. The only ‘good’ point is that it allowed me to add Joan Allen to the list of actors who’ve played evil prison wardens!
